Chambers Bash

I am so excited about the dinner monday at Five Points with Eric Texier, Francois Pinon and Pierre Luneau - I could just bust.

Even better-half Melissa will be there - the childcare gods have miraculously aligned.

Oh my God how soon we forget. I drove with Mark Anisman from Manhattan to Brooklyn with Kane driving. I don't have enough years left in my life to ever attempt that again. The horror! We do forget things that are too painful to remember.

I've never forgotten. Pre-Kane, I didn't use a seatbelt in a car. Post-Kane, I use seatbelts AND the bathrooms before getting in a car.

I can still hear Plotnicki as we pulled away from Suba - "Bradley... Bradley. Bradley! Bradley!!!!!!"

Thanks to the pros for all their hard work putting this event together.

The Pinon Silex re Tradition made an interesting match, angles matching up with curves.
I was impressed with the thoughtfulness of the lineups - Texier's lineup read/tasted like a play, each wine taking off logically from the last and moving the plotline forward. Luneau's four offerings each showed a facet of the terroir distinct from the others.

Vignerons were curious about my T-shirt, which Melissa made for the 2000 Huet-a-thon, and which I tried to explain with mixed success.

I was sorry to miss Mark. Given the vagaries of train and subway I didn't get down to Chambers Street until 5 PM. I was happy to meet Joe and Don, sorry to miss Mark. I suppose Kane might have taken my picture had I been a bivalve mollusc but I understand that we provincials occupy a lower order. (smiley face).

It was a fun tasting. The most unusual drinks were the odd "Chinata" at the last table. I was impressed, but I only came away with a weighty magnum of Pierre Peters from CSW.

I came. I saw (well, at least Jeff Grossman, Dressner, and the vigerons). I drank. I was there until probably just before Frank came, since I needed to return a corked Occhipinti frappato to Astor before they closed. Thought there were going to be a couple more winemakers there, though (like Closel).
Still, a good time. Thanks to all for putting this on!
