2006 Clos Roche Blanche Cuvee Cot:
On occasion, I actually drink wine...
Initially rather tannic and and dense, but with a bit more air the nose bloomed and was rather pretty, violets, lean and mean. Goregous minerality. On day 2 was perhaps leaner and more mineral. Less tannic, softer, and good god this is minerally. This is rocking now, but seeing that I found it more interesting on day 2, suggests some decent longevity.
Is the Clos Roche Blanche estate fairly contiguous? For my money, I can't think of an estate that has more house character, and not really in the "wines are made the same way" way, the wines all taste like they're grown in the same dirt. I've probably only had a half dozen or so different CRB wines, but the minerality may manifest itself a bit differently in each of the wines, but they all taste like they're all from the same patch of dirt. And I love it. I know I'm doing a bit of preaching to the choir here, as there's no shortage of CRB love here, but damn I enjoyed that wine. And the dirt.
Cheers,
Kevin
