A National Doughnut Day for winos

My Mom used to make "jelly" doughnuts. In this case, "jelly" meant doughnuts filled with home-made strawberry, blackberry, apricot, or blueberry jam. If given the chance (and my Dad made sure I didn't), I would've inhaled many of them at one sitting.

Never did try a wine-pairing with them, however.

The Doughnut plant on 23rd St. makes horrible sickeningly sweet doughnuts.

There is much much much much worse out there.

But, if anyone has better suggestions I'm happy to hear them??

How timely this topic is brought up again, as today is...drumroll...NATIONAL DONUT DAY once again, as my local supermarket has so caloricly informed me.

Cronut, anyone?

Hadn't heard of it until your post, but googling revealed some comedy. I'd certainly try one but like Jay I see no need to stand on line for more than 30 seconds.
