Rants and Ravings
- Bouchard is very impressive however you can feel the work in the cellar, nonetheless it feels like a minor version of Rose de Jeanne
- Briseau also is very solid and the more I think about it the more I like it. Not so sure about ageing potential
- Ametzoi a classic proposal from Zul is always refreshing and has an amazing evolution in the glass even at room temp
- Terroir's food is so fresh that puts to shame most of French bistro. It's unbelievable London did not have a place like this until recently. Yeah but get that aircon working it was over 27C last night inside. Well over that.

PS. This note with the help of Cellartracker. This is killer software from a wine lover to wine lovers (no connections...)
PS2. Tasting notes follow a Tom Hill style and I may add a Bill Nanson's Rebuy feature in the near future (I am pretty sure I will). Rants & Ravings should be trademarked by Weimax down in SF Peninsula in the meantime I shall borrow it...

Sounds like fun. All these were on the list at Terroirs?

I probably should have gotten in touch because I'm in London for a few days and was debating going to the ZH dinner last night but decided to save my liver (and my money). But this looks like a good use of both!

In order to make things less confusing, could somebody open 7-8 more unrelated bars named "Terroir(s)" because with one each in SF, NY and London I can almost keep them straight. Someone needs to remedy this situation immediately.

The one in NY is mediocre, the one in London is theoretical, and the one in San Francisco is full of pig fuckers.

I recently enjoyed some Descombes '07 at Terroir/NYC. Quite enjoyable.

Aside from those who criticize anything NYC because there is a Y in between the
NC, what's the issue?

There are 4 pages of Riesling right now on that list. Seems like something to me.

Good food and slightly expensive wine list (to me). A bit too much attitude with the service, and given that I'm a visitor, not a denizen, I wouldn't go back.

V intersting thoughts on Terroir! Could you please name a cheaper/more service friendly alternative in London ? Much appreciated as I have been looking for several years and this town ain't cheap...

If you're looking for a wine bar with good food, in my experience Terroirs is as good as it gets in London. Sorry.

If it's food, I found Harwood Arms cheaper and better on this trip. Am a big fan of Anchor and Hope as well on the other side of the river. Heck, even Great Queen Street is more interesting to me. I don't think London does rustic French food particularly well, but then I'm narrow-minded.
