Next thing you'll be telling me there were Millionaires during the Great Depression!
Oh, funny, funny.

October 1st seems so long ago. Also, DJIA almost 11,000.

Let's see how long we can all hold our breaths.

Although we only capitalize nouns in German.

I'm inclined to join the VLM flat tax movement (maybe with a VAT component instead of being primarily income based?), but I do fear the cataclysmic effect a simplified flat tax would have on the lobbying/tax code writing "bubble" that fuels our political economy.

An interesting read in case you missed it.

As I see it the main problem with VAT (which has a lot of good things going for it) is the regressiveness. And yes, that is a great article. I first saw a link to it on TBTMNBN and sent it around to a bunch of friends. Really helped me get a better understanding of CDSs.

Topical tuneGreat piece on NPR this morning.

Brother can you spare a dime?

Be sure to listen, rather than read.

They used to sell me on their wild ideas, and so I funded them all,
When there was code to hack, or numbers to run, I was always out, out on a call.
They used to tap me for their series B round, with warrants and options so high,
Why should I be Googling jobs, not wearing black tie?

Once I built a hedge fund, made me rich, took my thirty percent.
Once I built a hedge fund, now it's gone. Brother, is the wifi free?
Once I got a mortgage, then one more, then a third. Hey, it's smarter than rent.
Once I got a mortgage, now foreclosed. Brother, have you got free wifi?

Once in khaki pants, holed up on Sand Hill,
We were the belles of the ball.
Half a million bucks went into dot nil,
I was the kid you would call.

Say, don't you remember, I called you Joe, it was Joe FTW!
Say, don't you remember? You're not Joe? Wait, wait just let me in!

Make sure you have some left for when I get to town.

I thought maybe he should be in DC, but maybe he has a kid at Duke or something.
A friend of a friend had a kid a year ago and decided to bring some sanity to her life, so she quit Goldman and went to work at the Fed. Hahahahaha. Hasn't been home since.

That is FUNNY.

Yeah, those of us on the Guvment dole have it easy...

No pressure...really.

According to a new survey by Prince & Assoc., more than 80% of multimillionaires who had extra-marital lovers planned to cut back on their gifts and allowances.

I'm very curious as to the method of data-gathering used here. Randomly cold-calling multimillionaires, asking "Do you have an extramarital lover? And if so, are you planning on cutting back on their gifts/allowances?" Or perhaps the author of the study knows five rich guys with mistresses, and four of them are complaining they can't afford them anymore?

This is clearly some good science.
