Who is on hiatus or considering going on hiatus?

That's pretty much all I know about Zul, other than he was played by Rick Moranis in the movies. But it's best to stay on such a protoplasmic being's good side.

Nah, Zul (The Gatekeeper) was played (at one point) by Sigourney Weaver, in what I consider her best performance EVER (she exhibited at least two different facial expressions); Rick Moranis played The Keymaster, who never IIRC got a nifty name.

Funny, I just tasted her on a couple of wines at an in-store tasting this past Friday. She scrunched her face up a little and I told her it was okay, I didn't make the wines. She got a chuckle out of that.

Tofurkey and I have never been seen in the same room together.

I know quite a few people who try to avoid tofurkey whenever possible.

As some will remember, Otto decoded the true meaning of "Zul" which impressed the latter.

Otto had been studying early Sumerian or something like that, it goes back to the Cuneiform.

I rather doubt that "Ghostbusters" got it right, and I doubt if the folks in Akkad and Sumer would recognize Sigourney Weaver, even with her face scrunched up.

If there were an archive, we could all go look it up...

It would be interesting to see a listing of old news/new names. I'm still a little disoriented. Please, understand, I'm from the West Coast.

You are of course absolutely right about the portrayer of Zul. I had my Keymaster confused with my Gatekeeper. However, one may clearly pick either of the first two incarnations of Ellen Ripley as Ms. Weaver's finest performance. Or even The Year of Living Dangerously, sadly short on firearm pyrotechnics though it may be.

Don't worry, Brad. Chris doesn't really want to see all those people again.

Hey now, I was upfront about my history of vocal disagreements with Clownyhole, but he/she is certainly welcome to participate here. Who knows, we might kiss and make up...?

As a movie, I'll take Year of Living Dangerously hands down, but as a performance, I'd still argue for Ghostbusters. Did she really ever change her facial expression in Year? I'm not so sure. I'll have to defer to you on the topic of the Alien franchise, as I only like H. Giger artwork in small doses, so passed on the opportunity to indulge in 90 minutes of nonstop Gigerisms. I also have a limited interest in paying money to see unlicensed thoracic surgery, I admit.

Lipstick is bad enough; how are you going to explain greasepaint on your collar?

Who would have noticed her facial expressions in Year? It was one of the most tense movies I've ever seen. It was on a double bill with Monty Python's "The Meaning of Life". I'm not sure who scheduled this but it wasn't exactly inspired by a desire to enhance the audience's entertainment experience. I don't think that it was until the appearance of Dr Creosote (about midway through the Python film) and his "wafer-thin mint" that anyone in the theater was relaxed enough to laugh.

I'm happy to know Mr. Creosote has finally achieved an advanced degree. I can't imagine the relief Mrs. Creosote is feeling after all these years.

Sure, Year was tense. It's a romantic thriller! The communists are coming down from the hills! It's the rainy season!

Well not quite. In fact, I was quite perplexed as to his name. On therapy he had the name Zul al Zaggesi which I guessed was some joke on Lugal-Zaggesi aka Lugal Zage Si, the king of the Uruk III Dynasty, best known for unifying Sumer and being conquered by Sargon. But I never did make sense of the possible symbolism of this because I am a newbie here.

Vindicator?

Vindicator works just a couple of blocks from me. I'll let him know you've asked after him next time I see him.

At least one of the other patients was an alter ego I created. I don't think it had more than a post or two though. That was an idea that was better in theory than practice, but then I'm easily confused and distracted.

Several of those people are here, but sneakily using their old aliases that look suspiciously like real names. But if anyone, anywhere, knows where Double Dutch -- a/k/a Cor Balfoort -- is, please let me know. He's disappeared from the wine internets, and attempts to reach him have proved completely unsuccessful.

And whatever happened to Mjolnir?
