So since we're speaking of Nouveau, just tasted two about 30 minutes ago. The Lapierre was...well, what the fuck do you expect? It was brilliant. Better than most wines. No, I'm not really kidding. I mean, it's still Nouveau, and not "S.E.R.I.O.U.S." but who the fuck cares?
Why am I swearing so much?
The Ducroux Beaujolais-Villages "Prologue" -- which I was told by the fine staff at the wine bar at which it was tasted was actually a Rgni Nouveau -- was a little ashen and papery, despite other fine qualities. More classic Nouveau, in other words. I didn't get much Rgni aside from the keening raspberry and tannin, but the latter wasn't ready for prime time.
I'd buy the Lapierre by the tanker and replace my city water supply with it, if I could.
