He's at it again...

It's like it's all Convivio spam, all the time.

What happened to the halcyon days of Kane's shilling for Minetta?

Funny I'd have said two words: Brad Kane. But to each his own.

Poor Levi is suffering the fate of doing something, actually several things, interesting. My heart pours out to him. He's sure to get the "Ellenbogen" treatment soon enough!

You know, you make a good point. Why does Levi hate North Fork wines so? Can't he find room on his list for the local wines? Is he such a Europhile snob that he can't admit that there are spectacular bargains to be had in the...

No, sorry. This is too much parody to handle, even for me.

You've got the wrong end of the stick, Thor. It's Lyle Fass he's thrown over for Levi. Lyle gets no more love on The Pour now. I'm convinced that it's all a very subtle plot of Mr. Asimov's to funnel more traffic our direction, for reasons best known only to him (I did once leave a snarky comment on his blog referring to his famous uncle, so maybe this is in retribution or sumfin)

Mark Lipton

In this season for giving thanks, I am thankful that amari have been given the attention and understanding that those often overlooked beverages deserve.

I am also happy that Lyle Fass has at times been recognized for his brilliance. That guy knows wine.

Further, I am happy to know that Minetta Tavern, by all accounts, is doing quite well these days.

That's the last question I'd ask.

Yes, Levi, but what about the North Fork?

Didn't Hugh Johnson do something on this in 1976?

It's a perennial.

But with Georges Duboeuf out there, we may not need to worry.

Duboeuf is the Tissot of Beaujolais.

I thought Duboeuf was the Joe Perry of Beaujolais. Who knew? YLSNE

So since we're speaking of Nouveau, just tasted two about 30 minutes ago. The Lapierre was...well, what the fuck do you expect? It was brilliant. Better than most wines. No, I'm not really kidding. I mean, it's still Nouveau, and not "S.E.R.I.O.U.S." but who the fuck cares?

Why am I swearing so much?

The Ducroux Beaujolais-Villages "Prologue" -- which I was told by the fine staff at the wine bar at which it was tasted was actually a Rgni Nouveau -- was a little ashen and papery, despite other fine qualities. More classic Nouveau, in other words. I didn't get much Rgni aside from the keening raspberry and tannin, but the latter wasn't ready for prime time.

I'd buy the Lapierre by the tanker and replace my city water supply with it, if I could.
