Of course the alternative to making a sound that summons a sommelier is to yell "Shazam" which will transform you into a sommelier.

Suitable "sommelier" sound??
Okay, I've had French (long ago in college) so I know a little bit about the language, including pronunciations...usually!
However, I've never been confident as to how to pronounce "sommelier". Apparently other folks have some doubts also as here are three different renditions which I have run across...
So-mel-YAY
so-mel-yay
som-MAL-ee-ay
What do the experts here say is the proper pronunciation?
Thanks!
. . . . Pete
I have different ways to pronunce it:
" whereistheguywhodrinkscocktailaftertheshiftandbeersonweekends"
"whereistheguywhodrinkslessthanme"
"whereisthehighschooldropout"
I have many other ways pronunce it....SORRY AGAIN WIZZ ZE FRENCH HUMOR (it can be hard to follow sometimes).
Cheers.....Happy Holidays to all of you.
I know what you mean. It's like "where is the guy whose shop is not open and who has no idea what he is talking about."
When you work 20 hour days please feel free to comment, otherwise, please let be be. Merci.

I just work 16 hours a day ( 7 days a week) and yes I don t know what I am talking about--- I am too busy to drink so I have no time for reflexion on wine.
Sorry for being french----HOW TO PRONOUNCE "FRENCH"
"jackass"
"didIpissedyouoff"
"Idontknowjackshit"
"doyouhaveadaughter" and many other ways to pronounce.
I HAVE MUCH RESPECT for sommelier considering all the work and knowledge it represent.(and all the bordeaux they need to drink).
But as a french person I "cun't" help myself. I need to be arrogant and stupid in order to represent my cultural heritage.
I LOVE YOU Mr DALTON. But as Lucky Luke (do you know the cartoon character?) I will chase you down until you are behind bars.
I guess I owe you couple glasses of wine....it is easier than apologies(anyhow french people can t show signs of remorse in public ).
I hope we will see you soon at BS&WINE SHOP.

I just love the title of this thread. Makes me think of all the throat-clearings or verbal circumlocutions or yawps or whatnot that might spring forth from a sommelier's lips.
