Jay Miller
Jay Miller
Yes, I know what you're thinking. Has the other Jay Miller snuck onto Wine Disorder? But this is a thoroughly lovely bottle of wine from the Yarra (not Barossa) Valley. A blend of Cabernet sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet franc, Malbec, and Petit verdot, the nose says old school Bordeaux and the palate, while not lacking in fruit, is balanced and thoroughly delightful. A slight herbal note shows that he fruit wasn't left to hang long past its due date and is one element of the entrancing whole.
Many thanks to Paul Jaouen for introducing me to the producer (this was even better than the 1998 he opened). I can't justify paying full retail but I'd rather pay it for this than any of the reverse osmosissed Bordeaux selling in the same price range.
