A Cellartracker question for the glorious Politburo

Oh I know. I was just (ab)using you to make my own point. Sorry, buddy.

And I agree wholeheartedly.

Is this thread about only whether control + C and control+ V are too much work to re-post something here?

In case it wasn't clear, my post translates to:

"I haven't gotten around to using Cellartracker yet but it's a great system and why not make it easier for people to post their notes from there if it isn't hard to set up?"

Exactly my point. Some of us have friends on multiple boards that may not participate on one board or another and the software on this board is different from a couple of other boards I participate on, thus it takes a while longer to tailor things to this board. There's a way to make it easy to post one's notes on a few boards at once, so I'm exploring that possibility. As it so happens, while I generally have a pretty good memory of what wines I've tried and when and where, I'm starting to believe CT is the best way for me to keep track of and index my own notes and I know there are others out there that feel the same. Thus, since I know a bunch of people here use CT and might also like the convenience of some form of integration between CT and here, I thought I'd ask.

It takes like 9 seconds to get an html ready tasting note from there to here. It took me 15 seconds to figure out how to do it, without typing anything. I'll show you later.

I think the larger point is, if you can't be bothered to write a post, why should I be bothered to read it?

You're missing the point. The post is being written on CT and then sent out in one shot to various boards. As it stands now, I write my posts up in MS word and copy/paste to a few boards. To get bold fonts and such, I can do the same code on two boards, but I have to change them for each wine on this board. Pictures are also more of a pita on this board than on the others, imo. Now, I'm no techie and I certainly haven't figured out CT by any stretch, but from what I understand, there's a way to bring peace and order to the universe on CT whereby you type something up once there and boom, it comes out everywhere the same. No fuss, no muss. I'm just looking for simplicity and thought it would be nice if the Politburo at least had a conversation with Eric to see if it's even possible to link up.

Seriously: Why is it necessary to have the same post on four boards?

Which part of "Some of us have friends on multiple boards that may not participate on one board or another" didn't you get?

Some grudges should never be forgotten nor forgiven. Lyle knows what I mean.

Oh, yeah?

I'll have to ask him about it when I'm over at his house watching a movie next week.

Oh, please let it be French!

I appreciate the sentiment, Scott, but I'm a big boy. You did hit on something, though. I do get a little tired of those that think they have the biggest brains having the narrowest of minds.

You're right. Barbera in every restaurant or bust.

Were you able to post that up on CT already?

But there is nothing hindering you now from posting in places where your friends go. The proposed integration between CT and WD seems really to be about saving you some clicks. Are those friends not worth the few extra moments?

Have dissidents learned nothing? Politburos don't explain themselves. They order arrests, conduct show trials, and enforce harsh sentences. They don't accommodate, or compromise. They determine the common good and we accept that they act in our best interests. Those who can't live with the benevolence and wisdom of our fearless leaders are welcome to start tunneling...
