I take great comfort in Brad's universal denunciation of the wines.

There was a bunch of pretty good stuff, I conclude.
 
I was shocked to discover that his mood changed when you opened a wine with residual sugar. Shocked, shocked, shocked.

Yeah, that would be tough. Let's see...Scarlett goes to Joe's cellar and picks a dozen wines, leaves, and then everyone but Joe tastes them blind. Sounds like the most enjoyable of all ways to drink wine to me.

I don't like the common definition of snow so I'm just going to call anything that falls from the sky "snow". Is that OK with everyone?
 
I had to email Joe the next morning to find out what we were drinking, so the tasting must have been at least double blind ?

could you elucidate here? It seems to fit the usual meanings and definitions of trials and experiments, but which contexts did you have in mind?
 
I must quibble with you, Arjun.

When used in a scientific context the phrase "double blind" has a specific meaning and is importantly connected to the quality of the data (to be free of investigator taint).

When used in a non-scientific context, well, some speakers prefer their words to mean whatever they say they do (here, the same as "single blind" from a scientific context).

Finally, extended elaboration of anything is within our customs here, and, it is said, makes jokes funnier. What do you find "old" about good humor?
 
Arjun likes a little varietal in his language. This begs the question: why? Irregardless, he's boldly standing on principal, and I admire anyone who wants to defense their opinion. Myself, I prefer to tow the line and could care less.

Okay, it's pretty simple: in the context of a wine tasting, double-blind means what Brad thinks it means. In any other context, it doesn't.

I once knew a stellar astronomer; he wasn't very good.
