I rarely post wine tasting notes on line, but one so rarely sees a note on an older Scheurebe, that I thought this note may be of some interest.
1998 Pfeffingen Ungsteiner Herrenberg Scheurebe Sptlese
Served with an asparagus souffl, this is a wine with rose and honey notes in the nose, and a mineral spine playing the enlivening acidity against the slightly apparent sugar and the roses and honey in the nose. All done with great subtlety and balance and superb minerality. Probably decades of life ahead for this wine because of its balance, but it has already achieved the state of a mature wine that is in complete harmony.
