The wine at 12 years old is polite and modest. The oak that was so apparent in the beginning is now just a faint whiff of char that blows in along with the flavors of Chinon. Only 11.5 alcohol, which is refreshing. Maybe it was better a few years ago but I'll certainly enjoy the last few bottles.
We also drank a bottle of 2008 Wilfrid Rousse, Chinon Les Galuches which has the coolest label featuring a mermaid holding a fish along with some very good font choices. The wine is leafy and leesy and very easy to drink. Unpretentious.
Best,
Kay
