Kermit Lynch interviewed by Gary Vaynerchuk

I feel so sorry Kermit had to do that. I wonder who got him to do it.

Sort of like Fredy Girardet sharing the couch with an assclown like Bobby Flay.
Or Bunuel trying to shoot the shit with James Cameron.
Marianne Faithfull chatting about how to pick songwriters with Madonna.
Etc.
I hope Kermit is making some dough, at least.

I wouldn't go that far. You think Kermit is 'above' speaking to younger mortals? It's not like Kermit had to dress up in a clown suit to hawk some Gigondas.

I'm not a huge fan of Gary's style but I don't begrudge what he is doing. And I thought he showed a lot of respect/glowing eyes for Kermit, in his own way of course.

Interesting that Lynch recently got thrown out of a Nashville restuarant for complaining about salt.

The funny thing is that i know which restaurant. I had friends who emailed a chef here about a salt issue.

I don't suppose it was City House? I found a lot of reviews complaining about the salt there.

The same guy who forced him to write all that marketing copy shilling his wines in years and years of newsletters?

leave it to Thor.

(I was totally getting ready to rank on the vaynerchuck style of interviewing...)

Kermit had the reputation of never going on the road. You get the impression that it might be tough times in the wine biz.

So I guess I should feel like My Little Pony to have had an eager shutterbug friend take a picture of me with Kermit.

I was unaware of these ways of reclusive American importers.

How is it "shilling" when you're promoting your own product?
Please define "shilling", Oh wise one.
Maybe a native tongue issue?
Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap......

Is it possible that you don't know what "shilling" is?
After all the junkets?

Speaking of floods, Treme is fucking genius.
+457

but I wish there was more of a clear direction like there was in The Wire. By Episode 4 of the Wire we knew what was going down. So far Treme has painted an incredible picture, but still waiting for more. The exposition is about the best I have seen on television.

Yea. No one has ever seen the mysterious "Metzler."

From the prices I saw in the tasting book, he should be doing just fine.

That is my impression as well. In addition to hitting the road, Kermit has become much less aggressive bundling his higher end products. In years past, retailers in this neck of the woods would have to commit to stacks of lower end (crap) wines to get wines like Lapierre or Foillard. This year, apparently, not so much.

Where are you? I have never had a problem getting either of those in NYC. Never been held hostage for those or even Raveneau or Coche-Dury either. It was like, here are 6 bottles of Raveneau, 3 bottles of Coche-Dury and be happy that you get any, if not go fuck yourself. I never remember bundling with KL. Chadderdon . . . . .

Steve Plotnicki! I'd recognize that humorlessness anywhere.

Down near Bwood. Though I had similar problems (to get things like Raveneau) in Virginia. Perhaps it is dependent on distributor more than KLWM.

I can imagine when someone says "this neck of the woods" they are never referring to New York
