Diner Journal

Last time I was in New York, I went to St. Marks Bookstore and picked up a copy of a magazine that looked pretty cool. Kind of expensive, but not one I'd ever seen before. It's called Diner Journal. It had pictures of dead and cooked fowl on the cover, how could I not get it. I guess it's put out by the people involved with Diner and Marlow & Sons/Daughters in Brooklyn (I had a memorable lunch at Diner once, a while ago); though it doesn't seem to be a vanity project. It kind of looks like Art of Eating with less writing and more recipes. I've never seen any mention of it before. So, before I go and plunge for a subscription or back issues, I was wondering if anyone here has any thoughts on the magazine. Has anybody picked up a couple issues? Feelings?

They print content from Joe Dressner and Michael Wheeler, what's not to like?
And they're now on issue 14. Way to go. Actually, it's good to know. Though I have to plead ignorance as to who Michael Wheeler is.

A really brilliant dude.

The gentleman who first introduced me to Grand Sichuan.

The gentleman who introduced me to Nicolas Joly (82, 83), Vallana, and Union Pacific when whats his name was just a chef.

The gentleman who made me taste the same evening '82 Mouton '86 Charmes Jacky Truchot, '97 Giacosa San Stefano di Neive , '89 Guigal "La Pommire" from magnum plus at least 20 others like these just as I was landing from Charnay. I don't really remember the 20 others.

He sounds like a shit person to know. (insert emoticon here)

Seriously, though, I guess I'll have to keep my eye out for things that he's written.

He used to post to therapy occasionally, but it's been quite a while. We should see him around here, it's too bad he hasn't joined us.

Ah, but we forced out the Alabanians, so, it's SAFE now.
