Jeebus in SF Monday, 12/8

I am coming down with what feels like a nasty cold, and will miss the event, I'm sad to report. I hope to get to Sociale sometime soon, and, more to the point , to meet with the amassed disorderly!

Anyone know if they'll charge more corkage for a magnum? If so I might pick up a different wine. Right now it looks like I'll get a gruner veltliner.

If it's the 1990 Freie Weingartner from K & L, I bought on ein August and it was corked. There's your corkage right there.

Someone else bought two and one had a cork problem. Maybe I should get a different wine.

I hear Clos de la Tech makes a nice pinot.

No chance of getting one today. I got a 1994 gruner. It was a little more than I wanted to pay, but after Sharon wondered if gruner was a good grape, I dug deep.

Ha! Have you ever seen Coad without a Hawaiian shirt?!

I did! Just a couple of weeks ago at the Sharon Bowman dinner. It was really, really weird.

Can we get a list of the wait-listed people so we know who should get wait-listed for dinners here? Gotta keep the cool kids with the cool kids, you know.

That was a great night, folks.

I don't know what's come over me but apparently I'm already putting my notes together.

Did I miss anything? Aside from about two-thirds of Arjun's exceedingly long-winded joke, I mean.

1991 Gravner Ribolla Gialla
1992 Egon Mller Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett
1989 Willi Haag Brauneberger Juffer Riesling Kabinett
1988 Von Schubert Maximin Grnhauser Abtsberg Riesling Sptlese

1996 Bartolo Mascarello Barolo
1998 Drouhin-Laroze Bonnes Mares
1995 Joseph Drouhin Chambolle-Musigny 1er
2001 Palari Faro

C'mon, could none of you West Coasters have tortured Jay with some ber-spoofy Syrah Pinot Noir? I'd have thought my modest contribution to Rahsaan's going away shindig might've started a trend out there.

Nice lineup of youngish wines.
