I don't really object to MSG, but I don't keep it around. MSG is the purified thing, the other ingredients have many other complex components.
The glutamate in MSG is the same as the glutamate in autolyzed fish, or autolyzed yeast in champagne or muscadet lees, or fermented tofu, or what have you, except that in MSG it has been purified away from everything else.
