Lots of info on 2009 Bdx

So any idea what led them down this path? Were they not making enough money with their initial model? Hard to keep getting the rarer bottles?

Care and feeding of their enomatiques. Finicky little fuckers.

Also, the photo shoots in front of them!

On a more serious note, Mark, I think you'd be shocked to see the shift even in two years. I started reflecting on this today after getting mixed up in this thread. The indices are so glaring, it's pretty dismaying.

I think the demise of La Vig in London after the buyout was just as crushing. That used to be one of my favourite places in the world.

It's not just Paris. Same story in Madrid. At least at the Ortega y Gasset location. Pricing in the cellar room is embarrassing.

Madrid didn't have as far to fall, though. I remember the 73 CSH haul. Half my bottles were smashed in transit.

Quel dommage, winegrrl. Even with the pricing, it made a good site for a late lunch, not that I would need such a thing. Given how palatial it is, I wouldn't be surprised if their profit margin wasn't high enough with Marc Sibard's great choices to make ends meet.

How disappointing. I was only there once about 5 or 6 years ago and while prices wee a bit high they had some fantastic wines and a few good deals.

My recollection was of wandering around and going "Oooh, Allemand Sans Souffre! Oooh, Clos Roche Blanche! Oooh, 1989 Huet! Oooh, Selosse!"

If, as I hope, I make it to Paris next year I guess I'll be skipping it.

Stick with Auge. Not as much serendipity, since the stock is largely in the basement, but read the catalog and enjoy.

FWIW - Lavinia confirms that they are still the owners of Aug, and that the more interesting stuff will continue to be found at Aug. They seem to be separating both products rather drastically.
