How come nobody's said a word about the World Cup?

Right, but as I read it there's a standard for "this is a problematic quantity" and Contador was way, way, way below it. Could be any number of reasons for that, of course, and aside from the evidence I think...well, what pretty much everyone else who watches cycling thinks, about everyone at the top of the sport...but even if the story is 100% correct, I think they're going to have a hard time turning the charge into a major penalty, unless there's more to it. But I could easily be wrong.

As will we all. Trash talking begins in less than 24 hrs.

Not to brag, but I already have tickets.

Does this mean you don't know which teams you'll be watching, until tomorrow?

Not even then. It is a quarter final. But I think the trick is to get tickets that are good and then swap with others. Or so I hope.

curious if Ivory Coast is going to get screwed for the third time in a row.

Sort of.

On one hand, three tough opponents.

On the other hand, the others may beat up on each other, which theoretically opens a door, if USA can win one game.

At least we get Germany in the last game. If they win their first two, you could see some (yellow card accumulated related) resting in the last game. That would help.

you mean Goetze resting for Muller? Right...

[edit: if they do win the first two, your point is well taken]

I really want to see US-Germany in Recife, that should be fun no matter what.

Hold on to your wallet.

First thing after landing in Brazil is always storing the wallet somewhere safe and leaving house only with 50 reais and a cc.

I don't think that's what Oswaldo meant. Hell if you think the crime is that bad bring more than $20 or you risk pissing the robber off at the risk of your life.

Huh. Consider this.

Spain has a tough group with Chile and the Netherlands. They just may start slowly and finish second in the group.

Brasil is going to win their group.

If I am Germany, and I am somehow guaranteed the round of 16 by the time I play USA, and the above is true, the last thing I want to do is win group G.

It is true that they might be wasted after playing three matches in Salvador, Fortaleza and Recife, and may want an easier game in the round of 16, but this is nothing to potentially avoiding Brasil or Spain until the final match.

Actually, I did mean that, but you raise an even better point, since Brazil has now become the world's most expensive country (with the worst cost-benefit, to boot). It's a wonder why we ever bother leaving the house.
