2009 Clos de la Roilette Fleurie

Fascinating. It now appears I have a relatively inexpensive taste in Beaujolais. Now, how often can one say something like that these days.

I am taking Jon Stewart's proposed badge as my new motto:

I disagree with you, but I'm pretty sure you're not Hitler. I think this applies to all the above pronunciamentos.

Yeah. I thought the CdlR VT was a splurge.

As a noob, can anyone explain to me how the VT cuve is different than the regular coudert?

Not until you clean up your syntax!

Try: "As I am a noob, can anyone..."

Otherwise, you're only asking if people can, as noobs, explain.

Morgan: seek Joe Dressner's (the importer's) website, and find the France/Beajolais/Coudert page. Joe provides a good, succinct explanation.

The benevolent Politburo's search function smiles on n00b and jaded roue alike. Coudert Tardive should yield info.

The smiling and helpful LDM website also has info that may be even more reliable.

There, I was disappointed to read "This is a wine that ... takes on the aromatic character of a Pinot Noir."

As long as we're making niggling corrections I should point out that the wine is not "VT" (Vendange Tardive), but rather "Cuve Tardive." I don't think there is anything Tardive about the Vendange.

The "Tardive" is to some extent a pun on "Nouveau." It's the anti-Nouveau. Slow elevage, long keeping.

Can't win 'em all.

I'll open a 2002 for you when you're next in town and you can see what you think. I don't think it tastes like Pinot (yet?), but it's awfully good.

That formulation has confused me since I first read it; thanks.

But what about the 1980 Huet Vin de Glace?

It will be a wild debauch, what with Allemand and all.
