1990 Raspail-Ay Gigondas. Enough to convert me and Evelyne (Domaine du Closel). Fooking hell.

And finally, a corked bottle - 1990 Ch. de Fesles 'La Chapelle'. C'est la vie.

2 bottles of '95 Coulee de Serrant. Great, great terroir.

2004 Larmandier-Bernier Cramant. Wowzer.

There was disagreement at the table. I thought both bottles slightly past it, but with superb length. Great with Cantonese hotpot that evening, and I still wish I had more bottles.

Closest I've come to that in the past week was some bottle-aged palo cortado - an exceptionally smooth Hidalgo 20+yo 'Wellington' which had been in bottle for 5 years. Should have aged more of my sherries - very useful at the table.
