A couple 93 southern Rhones

Tour de la Sarrazine Gigondas. Forgettable, honeying, with some leftover density that suggests new oak.

Cuvee du Vatican. Delicious, acid driven, underbrush, nice vinosity, firm. Still actually a bit tightly wound.

94's have for the most part cracked up but the right 93s are great now.

Interesting about the Vatican. More recently, their "Cuvee Sixtine" has been a spoofed, oaky mess.

The Sixtine is awful. A wine shop friend of mine told me he had a conversation at a tasting with the Vatican winemaker who explicitly said he made the wine specifically for Parker points/recognition. Sad.

A number of years ago at a Slanted Door jeebus, Yaniger brought '93 Rayas. Terrific wine. Rahsaan, weren't you there, too?

That doesn't ring any bells.

I do however remember drinking the 95 Fonsalette at Cook's place with you, Yaniger and others. I have no idea who brought it, but I remember people trying to explain to me what I was missing as I didn't find it very exciting. (And there was a 95 Beaucastel that was much more my speed).

Larry, I believe the phrase you're looking for is "middle school".

Jeff, you completely lost me with that one.
(I know, if you have to explain the joke...)
That's ok Larry I didn't get it either and I remember when Rahsaan showed up for the first time at Hoke's place in Sonoma. Of course I always kidded Rahsaan about spending 20 years in graduate school and not having to work ever and how did he manage it?

You know what they say about when you love your career it never feels like work.

It was me. People often mistake Rahsaan and I. It's the SEM.
