Oswaldo Costa
OK, we opened the lone bottle of 99 Sec last night and, initially, it was not nearly so bad. Smelled of peaches and honey, like a duty-free Sauternes without botrytis. Nice citric acidity, with very light oxidation. Body was a bit deficient and the finish was clipped. Marcia complained about a smokiness that I didn't get. As it warmed, it became increasinlgy bitter. Then it convincingly enter damaged goods, or damaged vintage, territory.
