So many hedgey people, so few ideas on location...what is it with you New Yorkers?

Seriously, hope you can all make it. I am wondering about firming up a venue/participation to make sure we get somewhere decent...our group is growing and it is a Thursday night...

Ten Bells would be great for the after party.

If any of these look good I would be happy to contact them and see if they would welcome the group.

Good Fork sounds great; really interesting and tempting menu.

Trestle never disappoints.

If BRB won't kill us on corkage, it is also always fun.
 
The food at Good Fork is excellent and very reasonable. I can't promise anything but I have participated in a few wine dinner there and they have been very flexible with corkage. Red Hook also has a great vibe for our out-of-town guests.

As for Blue Ribbon I also can't promise anything but I do have a connection there.

I will wait for a couple more to chime in and will then make some calls.
 
I have a reservation for 8-10 people at 6:30 at The Good Fork. The owner is out of town and will call me back to discuss corkage, the person I spoke to assured me it will not be prohibitive.

Would the group be ok with a $10-15 per person corkage with unlimited bottles?

Please advise if the place, time, proposed corkage etc works for the group.

Also we will most likely be in the outside garden area which is very nice. If anyone would rather be inside just let me know and I will ask.

All sounds great. I will be later than 6:30 though; more like 7:30; hope a late arrival is OK.

Any room for relative newbies at this gathering? I'm basically local (Manhattan, not Brooklyn) and the group, the place and the corkage all sound great to me. I'd prefer starting a little later because I am not sure that I will be done with work in time to get there by 6:30, but I certainly don't presume to dictate the group's plans, so if I am invited then I'll have to just do my best to get there quickly.

I plan on taking a car home so anyone is welcome to ride with me. The restaurant will call them.

I will also inquire about a later start time.

No, but seriously, I, for one, could use some directional instruction or inspiration. Or I can just stick to bringing champagne and riesling/GV.

Robert, do you what the glassware situation is there? Shoudl we bring our own, or is that not necessary?
 
I also think a Beaujolais centric deal could be good, or, it could be predictable and boring. I'm a rat in a maze!
 
I was just going to suggest the theme "No Beaujolais."

Everything is backward in Brooklyn, anyway. The streets run down the drain in the other direction.
