The bottle I had of this last night was a far different experience from the 2004 Clos Sorbes I had about a month ago. The nose had all together different characteristics - instead of being driven by dirt, meat and florals this was driven primarly by lush red fruit with roasted bay leaf, and subtle coffee tones underneath. I drank this with a friend of mine that isn't overly serious about wine and he said that he would have pegged this as a Californian Pinot Noir if he had tasted this blind...and I would agree.
It also had interesting differences when it came to the body of the wine. Instead of being lean and powerful, this was lush, dense and a touch flabby. Overall, it was a fine wine...but didn't compare to the etheral 2004 Clos Sorbes I enjoyed before.

So you say the 2004 Clos Sorbes is worth opening now?

Verset jeebus! Bryan's bringing all the wines.
Had another fun experience with them a couple of years ago where they advertised JL Chave, and shipped over Bernard Chave Hermitage (that too for something already in the inventory).originally posted by Bryan Garcia:
Keith - I just laughed because I almost got trapped with the Flicklinger wines email too. I felt like I missed out BIG time until I heard what they ended up shipping. They def. advertised it being Noel Verset.

98 and 99 ? OK, I want to be invited. Seriously. I'll bring freaking Chave or something.
Matt, if I may ask, where did you have dinner?originally posted by Matt Latuchie:
'03 Truchot Clos Sorbes?Has anyone had this lately? I noticed it's on the wine list of the restaurant I'm going to in Seattle this weekend, but given the challenges of 2003 wasn't sure if it's worth the tariff.
thanks
