Bourdy 2006 Cotes du Jura

Oddly, according to CT, only 3 of these bottles are owned across the CT universe. I decided to drink 33% of the community holdings tonight during the NBA Draft/Phillies game:

Golden color in the glass and slow-ox'd for 45 minutes before I gave it a try. Delicate nose of banana peel, yellow florals, subtle honey, some butterscotch and melons. No question there's an oxidative quality to the nose with some subtle nuttiness - typical Jura in this regard - but it's not extreme oxidation which is nice. Palate is smooth, but densely packed with minerals, melons and subtle tropical fruit. Noticeable and enjoyable acidity on the finish made this go well with some spicy Thai food tonight.

Curious what folks here think of the rouge. I enjoyed the 05 but am worried about aging it as it showed bretty - not at a level that ruined the wine but at a level that is troublesome for the future...

Anyone had anything older than 05 but younger than the 40's?

I had the '79.

I didn't take a note on it, but I'll try to recall it as best I can. It was a nice mature wine that was reminiscent to me of a very mature but holding Cote de Nuits villages. As recently as 5 years ago I'd had a few those. Examples ranging from '59 to '71. They don't necessarily die from such age, they're just lighter and less deep and complex than bottles from higher appellations. Very analogous.

Anyway, red fruits, sous bois, tangy acidity, spices. Nice, an interesting experience, and fine as it was ex-cellar, but not really worth having cellared myself. Just how long it took to essentially attain what I experienced is a question, I expect it would have delivered a similar experience as it approached 20 years.
This one cost me $100, which all things considered these days, was certainly reasonable, but also about right. I had an '05 but I don't recall it being bretty.

I have had quite a few of their older reds and while the ancient ones are really interesting, I have found the wines from vintages like '89, '93, and '98 to really be in a great shape. A place where the age isn't so much the dominant characteristic.
