Have you seen V's book of drawings? It's been awhile since I thumbed through it, but there were a few reed pen drawings of the courtyard at the sanatorium, one of the fountain was really nice....had no idea it was still functioning!

Yes, they have another name but I can't remember it now. I've got a photo I can't access here of some particularly large specimens., from the Carpentras region. Will keep an eye out for it in the local markets. Thanks for the photos, Oswaldo, they were fun.

I'm in Northern Germany at the moment and have been extremely impressed (as usual) by the better fish markets. We went to a smoked fish specialist yesterday where they seemed to smoke everything that exists in the sea. Perhaps I've been living a sheltered life but had never before seen huge chunks of smoked fish roe...

Had a delicious salad with smoked tuna in Rome a few weeks ago. Stood in nicely for the usual prosciutto, I'm going to keep an eye out for smoked tuna now.

I won't try spices, sausages or olives (direct from Metro ?).
