Rest well, Joe Dressner

Such sad news. I never had the opportunity to meet Joe, but his writing and the wines he selected were sources of strength and inspiration.

It's life that sucks. Dressner makes me laugh. I never asked anyone to make me laugh. Dressner brings me great fucking wine, and I never asked him to. Well, maybe I did some times. I used to be able to go and get whatever shit bottle and it was fine. 'Course, I found my own way to Louis/Dressner Selections. So now, this bottle of Pépie Bulles consoles me - it does - like a kitten that has no clue that life fucking sucks.
 
Perhaps unsurprisng, but stunningly sad none the less.
My condolences to the Dressner family.
An irreplaceable loss for our wine community.
Joe was one of a kind, and his work and our memories will keep his spirit with us forever.

Let's celebrate the incredible work of Joe - the great wines he brought into this Country, the producers he discovered, and the great work he's done for real wine. Joe imported many of my favorite wines and stands alone, at the top of this trade, in the singularity and value of the wines he discovered and represented so well.

Condolences to Jules and the rest of the Dressner family.

Who can I fight with on this bored now? Tough, tough. I actually thought that if anyone could beat that terrible disease, it was Joe. What an example of fortitude he has been.

I met Joe and Denyse at a dinner at SF Joe's place 11 or 12 years ago. Since then I've been fortunate to break bread and drink a little wine with Joe here in Ca & NY on numerous occasions. Condolences to the family. DAMN! I'll miss him.
 
Joe changed my, and many others, life for the better. As the passing of any influential individual it is now our turn, our duty, to continue the message, the passion and better the lives of those around us. It's all we've got.
 
My father died of a brain tumor 15 years ago. I think Joe spent a bit more time suffering through chemotherapy, radiation, surgeries, drugs, and all of the other torturous treatments that never really work. Sounds like he made the most of it, spending time with family, friends, and good wine.
 
Damn! Hadn't heard about Joe for awhile and he's been missing from his blog and I was fearing the worst. Joe's wines have been absent from Oregon for awhile, and I'd been decrying that fact just a couple of days ago. Ironically, I had just been thinking about the missing in action; people like Dave Lett, Andre Iche and Marcel Lapierre. I'm just closing down the shop and going home, think I'll take a Chateau d'Oupia home tonight, one of my last Joe wines still on the shelf. Say hi to Dave, Marcel, and Andre Joe, and thanks for everything.
