I am positive about 2006 Oddero. 2007 Burlotto were for me, with Brovia, some of the real stars of 2007. The samples of 2007 F. Rinaldi shown at Nebbiolo Prima were awful, and I suspect some kind of heat damage was to blame.

Levi did you ever write more extensively on your impressions from that Piemonte trip? Other highlights, good or bad?

Yes thanks for the reminder - I saw/read/loved these. I meant to say more on the wines you tried during that trip. Sorry.

I'd love to hear more about the 07 Barolo controversy of which I haven't previously been aware.
I have had mixed feelings on 06. A few disastrously ripe, many straight up good wines (Produttori Torre, Vietti Castiglione, A Conterno Soprana), some very ripe but still tremendous wines that I think will shed some baby fat and gain more classical proportions (Brovia, F Rinaldi) and some true stunners (G Rinaldi Brunate, G Mascarello Monprivato, A Conterno Romirasco are mindblowers for me). I've not yet had Cavallotto from bottle or Cappellano at all and am anxious to.

I've had almost no 07's - a couple Barbaresco that were perfectly fine and in line with producer expectations. I have a Marcarini Brunate in the queue. I am very curious to hear more about the vintage from people who are tasting the bottled wines.

I was at the Galloni Barolo event last March. Finally met Levi there. While the 07s presented were very pretty Wines, there were only a couple that I thought were great Barolo. I haven't bought any, but then I'm not buying much wine anymore. Oh wait. I did buy Marcarini. Old habit. The 06s were better. Of course, many of the 07s were of the left-leaning persuasion, so I'm rarely interested in those, anyway. Christi, we should go to Dean's and drink some Barolo soon. Before he abandons the restaurant business, that is.
