2009 Marcel Lapierre Morgon
Quite silky in the mouth, but with a fair dose of Brett, there is both higher tones of clove and just a bit of yuck band-aide. Plenty of red fruit and Morgon spice mixed in. Complex and delicious if you don't mind the B yeast flavors. I might drink these sooner then wait for the Brett to really bloom.
2009 Domaine Diochon Moulin-à-Vent Vieilles Vignes
Maybe coming out of a closed phase. Dark berry fruit framed by nice tannin and pretty good acids for the vintage. I used 3/4ths of the bottle to make boeuf borgognone, the rest was great with the meal. A little more fruit then typical from Diochon, but not over the top.
2006 Domaine des Terres Dorées Morgon
Wow, this was drinking really well. Expressive but not over the top aromas of blue fruit mixed with typical Morgon spiciness.
Brun's wines seem a bit more structured then most Beaujolais, and this one has lovely firm tannins that frame the wine perfectly. Good acidity especially for an 06. Will last but very enjoyable at the moment.
2005 Chéreau-Carré Muscadet Cuvée des Ceps Centenaires Chateau de Chasseloir
On first pour all yeast and minerals, a little citrus later, more orange then the typical Muscadet lime and tonic. Slightly rounder warm year Muscadet.
Really shines on day 2, incredible depth. The old vine concentration shows up.
N.V. Laherte Frères Champagne Brut Tradition
I think this is from 2006 grapes. This is really hitting its groove at least in the 375ml format that I have been drinking. None of the sharp metallic notes of earlier bottles. Still a big presence from the Pinot Meunier, which I like here.
2002 André-Michel Brégeon Muscadet de Sèvre-et-Maine Sur Lie Reserve
Fabulous bottle. This is still a very young wine, pale color, soaring and quite typical typical Muscadet aromas, and just the right amount of acid.
Should drink well for many years. Worked well with fresh pesto made with basil and green onion tops.
2002 Alain Hudelot-Noellat Chambolle-Musigny
Very pretty. Just a touch of oak spice, nothing that detracts. Red fruits, lithe, tart, elegant. Lovely nose, with similar flavors that drop off a tad at the finish. Could hold a little longer based on this bottle, but no crime to drink now.
