In case you are nervous...

I think the plumber demographics are looking good for Florida.

There were robocalls in Fla today saying the Irish guy was pro-Castro. And the Irish guy might win.

Joe the Plumber loses Toledo!

Seriously -- among the worst aspects of the last week of campaigning was a genuine war hero continually calling Joe the Plumber his hero.

Yes, and his "role model." Bizarre and sad, that was. I miss the old McCain. I think he should chew his campaign manager a new one when this is all over.

Or maybe he should wonder why he lacked a sufficient moral compass to tell his campaign manager to go fuck himself.

I've hedged between feeling sorry for the the McCain I once appreciated, and the one who constantly angered me in recent months.

I look forward to hearing McCain speak tonight, and do hope he will evidence the class, character, and love of his country that he certainly posesses.

The early number in VA is torturing me.

The north precincts always report late - remember Webb in 06.

I think John is in a good place now...though I agree on the noth precincts.

Be well,

CNN projects Obama as the winner, but I remember 2000...

Rather different numbers, true, but as Yogi said, it ain't over til it's over...

As Muddy Waters said,

Got my mojo workin...

Can I say how pissed I am to have Carhartts identified as the true badge of American identity? Anyone who has been mushroom hunting with me in the California coastal mountains knows I have Carhartts of my own. Anyone who has walked lower Manhattan with hipster French vignerons with pockets full of overvalued euros knows that nothing could be more French than Carhartts. Cognitive dissonance.

I know it is incredibly corny, but damn it, I'm proud of America tonight. Perhaps we are indeed heading toward a place where the labels of race, ethnicity, religion and sex will matter less, and the individual person will matter more.

Yeah, I know I'm a dreamer.

10 seconds after McCain left the stage, the power went out here. Not just my place, but the entire western end of Malibu. Was it the Bush administration giving the whiney-ass bishes of Malibu what-for? Who knows. Took 'em 20 minutes to get it together and power us up again.

Obama was still ahead when the lights came back on though.

Whew.

Yeah, I know I'm a dreamer.

Well put. Call me a dreamer, too.

But you're not the only one.

I'm sure geo would eventually remind me that "I'm not the only one". That's a good thing.

I thought that McCain's concession speech was one of the better examples of the genre that I can recall, and also arguably the best speech that I've heard him give during this campaign.

Yes, this was an historic election, for any number of reasons, but I was moved to tears seeing the reaction in Kenya. Yes, this election has massive signficance for this country, but it will also reverberate around the world in ways that we have yet to fully comprehend.
