Hope to post soon on 1995 Il Sodaccio. Nathan, when you come back to DC we'll open the other one I have.

1995 Il Sodaccio is gorgeous. Especially from magnum.

Double yes! We just had this a week or two ago, and I loved it.

There were even two lots that failed to make the reserve, a first AFAICT for an HDH auction.

Ah this reminds me of the good old days when I used to go to the University Club for the Christies/Davis auctions (when there was only one Hart involved). Roughly 5 to 10% of lots would go unsold, leaving some real bargains on Monday for underbidders who could pick stuff up at the low reserve price.

DissentMy experiences with the 1997 Pergole Torte have been poor.

I wouldn't bite, even at $60.

I agree. I have tried this last week and it has been an incredibly poor showing. As it was my first bottle of this, I am not sure if this is representative, but certainly not what I expected.

Has anyone tried the 1994?

I've had it multiple times with consistent results. I'd more or less avoid 1997-2000 as a generalization.

I had the 1994 years ago. It's no 1995, but reasonable. Not sure it would have kept developing this long, but you never know.

Except for the 1999, right?

The 99 Pergole is very good at least from my huge (cough cough) sample size of two bottles so far.

And the 2006 Pian del Ciampolo has come along nicely.

From my sample size of one it's great.

2006? Could be. But I am very much looking forward to your thoughts... FWIW Galloni had a writeup on a vertical and it included the 2006 (published in June 2012) and while young it seems that he more than enjoyed it so maybe you will be OK.

Like your 07, still totally primary, but open. Not more than the sum of the parts, but the parts were so fine that I didn't mind. With time, it could very well become more than the sum.
