Pinguet out at Huet

"Personnage incontournable du vignoble de Loire, Noël Pinguet a décidé de ne plus travailler sur le domaine Huet. Après plus de trente ans passés à produire le meilleur vouvray, le vigneron part sur un désaccord avec la famille propriétaire du domaine."

Very sad.

But careless of Tony.

I am guessing, and didn't taste with them at the fair, but it's getting hard to make Vouvray sec in these post-1990 days, particularly if you have good sites and moderate yields. Too much potential, and it will either be sugar or alcohol.

What is the bit about distribution?

"...sa politique de distribution sur mesure est contrariée par la volonté de la famille propriétaire de faire la part belle aux plus grosses commandes."

His policy of bespoke distribution runs afoul of the owner family's desire to give larger orders the lion's share.

Wow. La Revue du Vin de France reports that, after more than 30 years, Noël Pinguet leaves Huet "over a disagreement with the owners". My view: you DON'T let a Noël Pinguet leave.

Interesting regarding RS, never crossed my mind.

I studied the three 2010 Sec over three days each, and while they were all outstanding, Le Mont did not want to be Sec, and I don't mean that from an RS standpoint specifically. It just seems all the tremendous work done in that vineyard, in conjunction with the warmer climate, possibly along with Pinguet's desired yield levels, is no longer making the wine's profile suitable for any form of Sec in a reasonably ripe vintage.

And no, I am not trying to draw parallels with Spatlesen pretending to be Kabinetts, this is something else.
