L D’Or

We drank the 2004 last night with some really fresh halibut and it was heavenly. It was very aromatic right on opening but had the slightest savory bitterness in the mouth at first. I think it was a bit tight and coiled, as this went away with air. It kept improving until it disappeared, really fine wine and great food match with the white flaky fish. I was thinking this has every chance to be as good as the 1989 version. Well maybe that is a bit of hyperbole, but anyway I wake up this morning and find an email from CSW offering a few bottles of the 1989. So there it is.

I'm very glad to hear this update. I've still got a few bottles of the '04 held as birthyear wines for our son. I'll probably open one up next birthday to see how it's doing (and to wait for those '04 Barolos to get older).

Googling was not friendly in this case.

With apologies, L D'Or??

. . . . . Pete

Pete, it's a Muscadet from Luneau-Papin, le L d'Or. It's a top cuvée along with their Clos des Alees and Excelsior Clos des Nöelles (and a few others). See the Winedoctor for a complete description:

I think I might have a couple. I think I brought one to the last jeeb?
Joel's jeeb 2 years ago. That one's still with me. Awesome.

Still with me too...and that one had been opened a couple days prior even.
Joel!!

Brian, it's a delightful memory to share....I clearly remember you and BJ and I digging on that bottle at the gallery. Time will tell, for those wise enough to stow a few away, but intuitively I felt it a gem with legs.

the 2004 hermine d'or from jo landron (louvetrie) also rocks. mightily. i want to drink it and i want to keep it. i'm conflicted. torn. on the horns of a dilemma.

Hey!

How is the '05? I picked up a bottle late last year because I was so excited to see that a new local retailer was stocking a lot of LDM wines that I had to show my appreciation by buying something, but I spent most of the last several years tuned out of the wine world and am slowly getting caught up.
