Hello,
We made a very nice dinner at the TGJP in Paris with Cole K. last friday with 5 northern Rhône (Jamet, Faurie, Le Colombier) & 2 whites from Maxime Magnon. see

Ask any questions on the forum and I will try to answer.
Best regards

You guys put on some fine looking food.

I haven't had a good Livarot in forever. We used to get non-coop ones, but it's been years.

Qu'est-ce que c'est?un mélenchonard

A very rare breed that appears once every five years or so; pab spent an hour with me explaining the fine gradations between the pink and red parts of the French political spectrum. To have a general idea, it is an open question for a Mélenchonard whether a run of the mill French socialist (e.g., DSK pre-hotel scandal) was any different from a Chirac or a Sarkozy.

But on the clothing question I was totally flummoxed. I thought the short-sleeved shirt and tie and jacket was prohibited in civilized countries.

In this respect, not that different from a Le Peniste and his/her attitude toward Sarkozy and the UMP.

I thought Mélenchon also thought Hollande a SINO (socialist in name only).

Dinner looked great.

It's a leftist lepeniste.

We have our own brands of these in the US. There's pitchfork Pat Buchanan on the right and Ralph Nader on the left.

It is - just like baring your toes in summer sandals without having had a pedicure.

And how does that work with the socks with sandals ban (outside of Scandinavia, I imagine)?

You really think those are equivalent?

Pitchfork Pat is somewhat nearer Jean than Marie le Pen, but the populist, anti-immigration, get back to the pure America, stuff was nearly identical. I agree that we don't have anyone quite like Mélenchon. Our politics doesn't go far enough left. But the attitude toward the center of his own political position (Gore was no different than Bush) was pretty equivalent.

it means no sandals - or get a pedicure!
