Cedric Bouchard in the Hinterland

I've become inured to buying most of my wine over the Internet living as I do here in flyover country. I do, however, occasionally visit the one local retailer that takes an interest in wine. Yesterday I was in said retailer buying cheap wines for a group BBQ when I spied in the Champagne section multiple bottles of Cedric Bouchard NV Inflorescence. Those of you within subway fare of CSW will no doubt shrug this off as far short of newsworthy, but the fact remains that those bottle reside on a shelf heretofore occupied by NV Veuve Cliquot and its ilk exclusively (White Star being too upscale). At $59.99 a bottle, it's no bargain, but the mere fact that I can now buy Cedric Bouchard locally I find quite comforting.

No bargain, but those can be glorious.

I had wondered why SFJoe keeps asking for all my empty Bouchard bottles.....

And did you?

You need to ask?? $59.99 is still cheaper than coach to LGA.

So, what you're telling me that the wine is no longer on the shelf!

You're not getting it, are you?

But that is a bargain, isn't it? I mean for Inflorescence?
When I consult the amateur version of Wine-searcher, it certainly appears that way, though my recollection of what I paid for it at CSW is somewhat less than that. Viewed through the prism of the LCBO or SAQ, though, most things are bargains, no?

Viewed through the prison of the LCBO, you won't see the merest fractal of Cedric Bouchard. Though you can get Inflorescence by private order for $85, minimum purchase 6 bottles.

Ouch!! It wasn't my intent to rub salt in the wound, Jeff, as those of us in glass houses know too well. I was just curious, really, as it's been quite a few years since I ventured northward in search of wine.

Depends.
Say what?

Sometimes there is a bargain in abstention, of course.
Of course, indeed, if by 'bargain' you mean the lack of joy.

You could get Lassaigne for less than $60, delivered to West Lafayette. One example that couid perhaps support Sharon's reference.

Mark, I do understand the joy of local discovery, though. And I live in the Bay Area, rather than my old stomping grounds in the Hoosier state. Many times I'll see something online and pass, only to snag it when I see a bottle in person.
