In My Glass Right Now

Glass of icy water in Frost Valley.

Had the '07 L'Enfant at Slanted Door back in July of '08. It was beautiful then. Wouldn't have thought to hold it this long.
I'm sure L'Enfant has held up better than the Slanted Door which used to be a good restaurant.

2008 Montevertine Pian de Ciampolo
$32 by the glass at Osteria in Philly!

The $7 Lambrusco is working just fine with the antipasto anyway.

2010 belliviere jasnieres premices. a wine of complete happiness.

Is that the young-vines rendition? I'm angling for some Rosiers, the 08 of which hit me like a ton of bricks.
The '10 Rosiers was singing last night.

(Ooh, I get to go again!)

Tonight is Belland 2005 Santenay-Gravieres 1er. Beautiful: aromatic, fruit and perfume, just a touch of loamy earth. Still some tannins but this is open for business.

HayThis 2010 Edmunds St. John Bone-Jolly Gamay Noir is purdy drinkin'.

Did they let some of that make it all the way to the East Coast (tempted to put an L in front just to raise hackles)? Good stuff, to be sure.

2002 Willi Schaefer GD Kabinett was quite nice this evening.

I bet it was. nice!

no kidding !
Jay does not open stuff like that in the Cellar. He knows I would drink most of the bottle.

I've not tried the Kab in ages, but the Spatlese and the Auslese, tasted over the past year or so, were very, very special. Unlike any other recent vintage I am aware of, with a notable presence of savory elements and some of the complexity I typically associate with older, drier Alsatians. (OK, the "older" and the "drier" in that sentence are not entirely uncorrelated).

Terribly sorry, but these days most of my riesling stash is reserved for when Arnold is around. Though I did get some interesting items delivered this week that I might be talked into...
