Saturday snacking

Todd Abrams
Had a slice of "funghi" from Supino, literally Detroit's best pizza joint. Then washed it down with a glass of 95 Domaine Deletang Montlouis Moelleux. A bit like a recent 97 Clos Baudoin Moelleux I drank with wooly roasted pineapple butter up front but none of the acidity to back it up. This just kind of drops off a cliff at the end. Maybe a twitch of mineral if you're tasting hard. On a scale of 1 to 10 it's better than Pepsi but not as good as a hit of cocaine from Scarlett Johansson's cleavage.

Todd... Good to see you posting here. I'm impressed that you were able to bypass the regular welcoming committee. I did too; I like to think of it as the 'friends of Putnam' clause. Ok, I made that up, but anyway... Coke off a starlet's cleavage...? Just as long as you don't start in on banging peking ducks.

I watched Holy Motors last night. I'm not responsible for any deranged thoughts for at least a week. That said, banging Peking ducks? Link, please.

"washed down"? You're not earning any cred with that antediluvian phrase. When I drink, I drink; I do not wash.

That's all right, I washed the glass you left behind yesterday.

Speaking of which the 2006 Produtorri Barbaresco opened up beautifully over the course of the afternoon while the 2006 Rollin Pernand Vergelleses Iles des Vergelesses was best on first pour and shut down a bit with air. Still a lovely elegant austere styled B'y on the finish but it didn't show much on the approach. Time to hide my other bottle away for a good long time.

Thank you. I went from the cellar to a rather hot -- in the black pepper sense -- dish of lamb chettinad.

Glad you like the B'o.

They're effectively the same thing.

It could provide a very effective code, thereby fueling the argument that we're a bit too clubby with inside jokes. Or, put another way:

It c'd p'e a v'y e'e c'e, t'y f'g t'e a't t't w'e a b't t'o c'y w'h i'e j's.

I like it, though Enigma it ain't.
