I am so innocent

Speaking of 1983 Côte-Rôtie, I just found a bottle of 1983 Levet in my cellar that I'd completely forgotten about.
Nice. At a recent Levet vertical tasting there was some talk about this wine, it's said to be fabulous despite being Bernard & Nicole's first vintage.
It is indeed!

I remember '83 Cote Rotie, such a presbyter I am.

'85 Brune et Blonde, consumed in a motel in Rapid City, SD as we traveled Westward to our CA postdoc positions. Am I a presbyter too?

Amen, Brother.

I had a case of this stuff. All gone a long time ago. I think I paid like $20 a bottle.

That sounds about right. As a penurious grad student at the time, one bottle was about the monthly wine budget.

I've had the 2001 on two occasions. Pretty oaky and not very good 5 years ago but a very good wine this January. Seems it could handle the oak long-term, but need to dig deep for any specific notes.

Interesting, Odd. I bought two bottles of the 1999 that were deeply-discounted at a PC sale some years ago. I opened the first one not long thereafter, and it was undrinkably oaky. I've still got the second, but have had no desire to open it -- sounds like I should give it a try.

'78 B et B was the first Northern Rhone I ever purchased. $12.50. A friend who stored his wine at my house had a few bottles of '78 La Mouline. I think the price was in the mid-30s, but he was ITB so he paid less. I don't know if he ever drank them or if he sold for a tidy profit.

Uhh, I don't think I'd qualify as a presbyter.

it'll be great, Larry, you'll be like the king with two wives

Henpecked in stereo. I've always wondered why a man would want multiple wives.

(Just to be clear, my wife doesn't do anything of the sort, sees no reason to be that way)

So you could tell the first wife that you are at a Guigal vertical with the second wife, and tell the second wife that you are at a Jaboulet vertical with the first wife, while you are actually at Terroir with other disorderlies drinking Houillon Arbois -- you really need me to tell you this?

When you pitch this to HBO, let us all know.

It was pretty much done sixty years ago -- Alec Guinness in The Captain's Paradise. The problem is, no one alive today can replace Guinness.

My background is Jewish on my father's side, Catholic on my mother's side. Every morning when I wake up I feel guilty, in fact I know each morning I am guilty. You don't need this burden Larry, life is difficult enough without any extra obstacles.
