A couple of things to add to the discussion. Charles Banks is partners with Raj Parr in Sandhi and the wines I have had are very good - balanced, restrained and reasonably priced.

Charles Banks also owns a hefty share of Wind Gap, btw.

First release of Stony Hill Cabernet Sauvignon (2009) was very promising. Tasted a few bottles fresh, and I think it will need some time to shed its baby fat, but then their Chardonnays age so nicely... Also love Corison, and I think the Detert Cabernets are too often overlooked. EDIT: I happily distribute all three in NYC.

Very expensive though. (stony hill cab)

Was mildly surprised when told stony hill isn't naturally fermented. But te chard is still great.

Well, you mentioned it so now we know.

Do I need to mention that I have an interest in a wine shop every time I post about wines that we sell?
He had very few posts. We all know what monkeys do.

Shop folk are different from Importer folk.

Okay, it's expensive to grow good (nonspoofed) cab sav in California, but why are cabernets sooo much more expensive then pinot noir-chardonnay-weird obscure varietal, which is made in the same State? Makes no sense to me. I think the list of more traditional zinfandel producers is longer than those making traditional old-school cabernets. Too bad, because I think this grape reflects well in the climate there.

Napa land.

I'd say David Schildknecht, Neal Martin and Luis Gutiérrez appreciate quite a few of those kinky unsulfured wines and will rate them highly... The proof is in the pudding.

That's true, importers are scum.
