I'll be risking a 1998 CSH at The Bar Room at the Modern this Sunday. Fingers crossed.

I can always order off the list if it doesn't work out.

Please report back on how it goes. Are they still doing the Sunday night no corkage for up to two bottles thing?

They are!

Had one last July and it was controversial. Some thought it was good, I thought it was heat damaged, but in lieu of your comments, perhaps it was premoxed?

But an additional frustrating thing is that when you open a perfect bottle ( thinking you'd drink the wines sooner than later due to potential premox ), it can be brutally young.

Youth is wasted on the brutal
You're the only one I know on this board that qualifys as youth.

the 98 was an early maturing Hune, due to botrytis, nothing to do with premox

Don't expect too much

Really? I thought it was amazingly good on release.

You really expect a 90 Savigny to be any good at this point?

What are you implying? If you doubt the vintage, then OK. Otherwise, I don't follow, dude.

The 90 Lauer Sekt is incredible.

If I recall the comments correctly, you would've been its only champion.

Pretty much. Given some fantastic Lauers I've had it was exciting to see this. Much less so to drink.

Care to elaborate? Tonight's bottle is beautiful. Especially with shisitos and a few slivers of Olympic Provisions Loukanika over toasted slices of Orwasher's miche.

1998 Clos Ste. Hune was premoxed.

2004 Allemand Chaillot showed a lot of brett at first but after being open for a while the fruit overtook the brett and it was very good though young. Will be better in 6 years or so assuming the brett isn't breeding.
