...for Mon 10/21 dinner, not early, where?

Peach Farm in Boston Chinatown is a great BYOB restaurant. We can have dinner there and I will ask Matteo at Wine Bottaga to join the dinner too.

I'll be returning from Oregon on a Sat/Sun redeye the day before, but if familial duties and/or jetlag aren't insurmountable, I'd love to join.

I've been in town for my new gig. I stayed in the South End and I've eaten at Petit Robert Bistro, The Beehive, Tremont647, and Coda. I picked up the last bottle of Jean Bourdy 2006 Cotes du Jura Rouge at the neighborhood shop: blend of poulsard, trousseau, and pinot noir, acid zing has faded a bit, some VA, not earthy-dirty at all; by the 2nd day, it is all bright, white cherries and kirsch; good but no rush to repeat.

In re next week: There are going to be two huge conventions in town. The various convention centers are expecting 3,000 cancer doctors and 6,000 human geneticists. So, we may want to take extra precautions to secure space for dinner.

What we want to know is where are the non-human geneticists staying?

We have secured a table for dinner at Peach Farm in Boston Chinatown on Monday at 8pm.

As usual, a night of fine wine and excellent food choreographed by Trung. Fun to meet Jeff and Steve. Too many great wines for me to remember specifically - thankfully both Jeff and Mike took notes - but the 2004 Clos Rougeard, 2005 Vatan, 1995 Baumard Coteaux du Layon, and 2002 Belliviere "Le Rouge Gorge" were standouts for me, as were a number of rieslings and some obscure Italians and pseudo-Italians. The 1996 Ridge York Creek Petite Sirah was monolithically youthful despite my cork destruction efforts, spawning an interesting discussion about whether the grape had any merit on its own.

Oh sure, you go to Boston and ask for a dinner but NYC? What are we, chopped liver? Of course Russ and Daughters chopped liver is pretty great stuff so that could be a compliment.

For anyone who didn't notice (like me) Steve will be at Chambers St. tomorrow night.
