Matsutake!

Nice article and fun video about the realities of the modern matsutake harvest here.

$5/lb to the pickers hardly pays for gas, not to speak of truck repairs.
 
Interesting. I don't know that I've ever had one. (I'm still hopeful to identify a slightly withered mushroom that was floating in a cup of Abalone with Mushroom in Superior Broth that I ate in 2005.)

Mishima does a beautiful matsutake soup, maybe we should schedule something.

Rootstock here in Chicago is currently doing a raw matsutake carpaccio that ranks among the top 5 things I have put in my mouth this year.
