I've never cared for anything from Cowgirl Creamery though.
I've spent this year tasting through all the 2000 Bordeaux I bought way back when, some for the first time. The Barton is definitely up there though I think Pichon-Lalande has been my favorite - Pauillac silk.originally posted by Peter Creasey:
Kay, First, I'll say I'm biased because I think so highly of Antony Barton and like Leoville Barton so much.
At this luncheon, the Leoville Bartons were singing in each flight...my favorites each time.
I had long ago picked the Leoville Barton 2000 as the wine of the vintage. Each sampling since then, including at this luncheon, validated (in my mind, at least) my assessment of this great wine.

Agreed. Along with Winnimere it's one of my favorites.

If you're talking about US cheeses in general don't ignore Landaff. A very different style but extremely satisfying and surprisingly good red wine match.
