Timely reminder that the tannins could be from stems, which could hardly be objectionable...

Sez you.

Totally can, or might not, depending.

I meant as a matter of principle, since it comes from the vine and the soil; certainly it could be objectionable as a matter of taste.

Taste? Stop bringing up trivial side issues.

1988 Dr. F. Weins-Prum Graacher Himmelreich Auslese last night was nothing short of stunning. Still rather sweet with plenty of richness to the fruit, but showing lots of savoury and smoky development as well.

Franc de piedAs in Baudry '11. Magnificent.

( oh, and a totally apple-juice dead '01 Prager Klaus, that really shouldn't have been. Very upsetting.)

one upside is that a sounder prager would have seriuzly copmlicated teh spelling of 'magnificent'.

or so i'm tolled.

2012 Patrick Piuze Chablis 1er Cru "Les Forêts" Dinner at the North Fork Table and Inn. Wonderful food in a beautiful setting. The wine service leaved much to be desired (Why is this so difficult?). No matter as they supplemented our original bottle with a second and the nice couple who mistakenly received a glass from our bottle bought us to a glass of sherry.

2001 Muller Catoir Haardter Burgergarten Riesling Spatlese 2134
1993 Joseph Drouhin Morey St. Denis 'Clos Sorbe'

Which averaged out to 1997 when I took Jeff & Jim out to celebrate their 17th! anniversary.

Thank you, thank you.

Yes, the wines were excellent, delightful. The M-C developed an exotic pineapple note while the Drouhin struck the perfect balance between funky nose and silky texture.

Which reminds me... thank you, Jay!

I did not like this wine when it was younger. Now I do. It's gone from ungiving and clumsy/shrill to gloriously harmonious.

Drink while listening to Hildegard of Bingen. Or Leonard Cohen.
