Lots of people selling their 2002s on winebid this week. Shame on you.
They should exempt themselves from the whole "mark-to-market" thing that the Fed let the banks do in 2008. If you don't like the temperature, break the thermometer.

Winebid is such a bad place to buy wine. Everyone dumps their stuff there. I have about a 50% success rate it feels like...

I buy and sell on winebid, though much more buying than selling and almost all the ones I've opened have been in good shape.

It will be interesting to me to see if Moelleux and Cuvee Constance fare better better than sec and demi-sec.

My own contribution: a 1ere trie Moelluex Clos du Bourg '02 was excellent a year ago. I don't remember the importer strip. I have another waiting and will look at the strip. Purchased at Sam's.

I haven't experienced any issues with the '02 sweeties, nor have I seen any reports of problems. The sugar should keep them safe.

I'm hoping that you're correct. My darling* wife just gave me a bottle of '02 CdB Moelleux as a birthday present.

* I originally wrote that as "daring" -- it works either way

2002 LHL Demi-Sec, from Brad's source.
Gorgeous wine, pristine color. Not as rich as CdB demi or as structurally gothic as LM -- very elegant, extremely fragrant (not just flowers, but pollen and subtle hints of exotic fruits).
We looked and looked for any signs for early premox, like shorter finish, off aromas, color, etc., but could find nothing, despite a grey-blueish edge on the bottom of the cork.
1/3 still in fridge, we shall see tonight.

This spoils the fun almost as much as a bad bottle.

Oh, pish. There's always a way to make some fun out of it. Get out a bunch of matchsticks and play "Poverty" ("I don't have any premox!"), or take turns singing verses of "I spy with my little eye" (...no shortness of finish!). Write wine flaws down on scraps of paper, shake them up in a bowler hat, then draw lots to see what you should taste for in the next glass.

Had a bottle of the bubbly last night that was completely fine; purchased from Chambers St on first release I believe. Mr. Doghead himself approved.

so the reason i was looking so hard was this was a bottle left in the fridge for 9 months

in case suspended animation played a part

Last of my 8 bottles of bubbly (2nd bottling) was well on its way to trashed. Deep golden and cidery with a very weak bead. Ended up batting 50% or less on these.
