Come Clean

Does La Conseillante count as spoofed?

I have previously been informed that '99 Clos des Goisses has been given a waiver by the politburo.

Nice answer. How did you get the toast and Chocolate in the wine? Reveal your spoof tactics.

The blockbuster 1992 Syrah Durell Vineyard is a must purchase for Syrah fanatics, or wine enthusiasts who cannot get enough Hermitage. One of the greatest Syrahs this property has produced, the purple/black color is followed by a huge, fragrant nose of smoked meats, toast, chocolate, and jammy black currants. The wine displays exceptional flavor concentration, great stature and richness, beautifully integrated acidity, and ripe tannin. This full-bodied, massive, exquisitely balanced Syrah is capable of 20-25 years of evolution. A prodigious effort! One of my favorite producers, Edmunds St.-John can be relied on to turn out gorgeously rich, personality-filled wines that are a treat to taste and drink.

I got careless. I started drinking and playing cards. Next thing you know I was in a laundromat. Then I was in a church Bazaar, and there was an organ-grinder, and he had a monkey who wanted to make a deal. One thing led to another. Last thing I remember was being at the crossroads at midnight. Robert Johnson was there, too. And some guy with a cigar...

damn, you are the second person this year to tell me this is good.

I tried one bottle from my stash a few years ago and did not care for it, and was just thinking of exchanging the remainder for whichever 2013 Robert Dentice liked the most on his trip. Time to open another, I guess.

I clearly made the wrong career choice.

SFJoe and I received an unconfirmed report the 1971 is not.

I suspect you will get different answers if you ask how many non-spoofed wines there are in Bordeaux these days, among the well known properties, depending on the degree of spoofiness one wants to consider.
Professor Gilman, for example, published a list of so-called traditionally made Bordeaux not too long ago, and I think he was being a little generous. But I completely understand his point of view; his list is consistent if you just lower the bar a little.

Jeez, I had the same dream the other night and thought it was from something I ate. I'm really worried now!
