Another bottle of the wine that started this thread just sold on Winebid. For even more than the last one.

One of the bidders attempted to "snipe" at the last minute, but was thwarted by the winning bidder who already had a higher automatic bid entered. I wonder just how high the automatic bid actually went...
 
Does that $51,000 include the premium, or is it >$60k all in?

I don't know why I care, it's all much the same madness.

Threads on another wine board - one about how to spend lots of money on watches, another on how to spend money on (of all things) shaving and the third on golf. Lots of ways to spend excessive amounts of money.
 
A friend opened an Albarino from Raul Perez a few months ago that was aged for awhile 60 feet under the waves of the Atlantic. The wine was nice, but it was also the most expensive Albarino I can remember at about $80 retail. Also, not having tried the non-ocean-aged version, I have no idea whether that part of its elevage made any difference.
