The California State Fair gave out the top wine awards from the California State Fair Commercial Wine Competition.
This year's competition consisted of 2,829 wine entries received from 746 winery brands.
Sterling Vineyards 2010 Platinum Cabernet Sauvignon was named Best of Show Red, Best of Napa Red, and awarded double gold medals. The wine also tied in the category of Best Cabernet Sauvignon.

Long ago, I liked the Sterling wines so I'm glad to have picked up some of this acclaimed wine in the hopes that it reflects a resurgence in Sterling quality level(s).
I haven't tasted it so it would be interesting if anyone here can comment on it.
